Here's what the experts recommend checking out at this year's SCENE Festival...

BRONX CHEERLEADER
10:00pm ON 81
“You gave it up for us, now you’ve given up on us.” – “Got
Company” Bronx Cheerleader’s debut album, Tough Guy Cliches
was not only one of my favourite albums of 2005, but hands
down the best local album of the year. This Yummy Recordings
quintet beautifully combines honest songwriting with intricate
and delicate rhythms that could very well leave you humming the
hooks for the rest of the evening. The band’s collective influences
include Frank Zappa, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Ween and Neil
Young, which totally explains the undertones of psychadelia. If
you’ve come to SCENE Festival to be knocked on your ass by that
beautiful pop music, look no further; these tough guys are
delightful. [JORDY YACK]
